The Ramblings Of John Campea

Life Beyond The Movies

Another reason I’m against the Death Penalty

This horrific story (just one of many) from CNN about a guy who was executed in 1993, and they’re just realizing now that the guy was innocent afterall. I don’t care what anyone else says… THERE IS NO FOOLPROOF SYSTEM!!! 2000 dead criminals is not worth the life of 1 innocent man. It’s just not

  1. But are 2000 live criminals worth the cost of 200 innocent lives?

Yes, the judicial system is flawed and its horrible when the 1 in a million stories like this come out. But as someone who obeys the laws then i just cant feel sorry for those who break it.

Until they figure out how to bring a dead dismembered teenager back to life when her assailant “reforms” then i’ll be satisfied with killing the bastards.

  2. Even if it means killing an innocent man to do it?

  3. I feel sorry for that guy, but i have to agree with Cole. one innocent man does not constitute taking away the death penalty and denying millions justice.

  4. The death of an innocent man is the most opposite thing there is to “Justice”.

  6. To me… there is no “other foot”.

Let’s put the question this way:

“What is more unjust? A guilty man living (in prison), or an innocent man dying?”

The answer is obvious… so then the next question becomes:

“How much is the life of the innocent man worth? 1 guilty man living? 2 guilty men living? 1000 guilty men living?. The answer can only truly be given by the innocent man… or his family and loved ones.

If the innocent person was YOUR mother… how much would you say her life is worth? Is executing 10 guilty people worth killing your mother for? How about 10,000 guilty people? Is that number good enough to kill your innocent mother for?

The “foot” of the executed innocent is the only point of view this should be looked at from. But that’s just my opinion.

    Cheers.

  7. Okay, good point. I still think that if you kill someone, you reap what you sow. I truly am sorry for that man.

  8. I don’t really support or denounce or praise the death penalty. However if some one raped my seven year old sister and I didn’t catch him first, I would expect to see him fry. He should die. It’s not so much the penalty that kills the innocent but the system that fails him. I feel sorry for anyone ignored by the proper lines of justices and it’s not just, but the horrors of society have to be dealt with severly.
