That Settles It – No PS3 for me!

ps3.jpgSony are a bunch of bastards. Well… at least when it comes to their video game console the Play Station. Not only are they way behond the new XBox 360 in releas date… and not only are they going to be stupidly expensive (around $800 Canadian if I heard right… but now they’ve shown what real bastards they truly are.

Sony has just announced that they are changing the licensing system with their games. Here’s what it means. If you buy a Play Station 3… you know… with YOUR OWN MONEY, and you buy a couple of Play Station 3 games… you know… WITH YOUR OWN MONEY, then Sony has just made it so it will be ILLEGAL to sell your game to someone else after you’re done with it. That’s right… if you decide you don’t want your game anymore that you pais Sony $80 for… then tough luck, you’re not allowed to sell it.

I got this from DIGG:

Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won’t own the PS3 titles that they’ve paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property – meaning that the disc won’t be the customer’s to sell.

If there was ANY REMOTE chance that I was going to buy a Play Station 3… that chance it totally gone now. SCREW SONY!

  4. Is that even legal, and if so, can someone please tell why the hell consumers would agree to those terms? I mean… Sony will not experience any significant losses due to this, because the average consumer doesn’t care… BUT WHY? :-p

  5. Was Sony also not responsible for the INFAMOUS root-kit debacle that they blatantly lied about and said it was perfectly safe, but in the meantime actually opened up your computer to a great number of nasties AND “phoned home” to tell SONY what you were doing? And isn’t it the EXACT SAME SONY that will be releasing PS3 games with (more than likely) an online component? Would you really trust them after reading up about the Sony DRM issues? They make me sick.
